Cal. 44 HRF. S# 158403. Bbl. Bbl. 38" octagon modern replacement with added standard King's Improvement bbl. markings. Sporting front sight, filler in rear dovetail, with Vernier tang sight. Full length 2-band fastened tubular mag. Action has 75% coverage of contemporary vine type foliate scroll engraving with punch dot backgrounds. Circular vignette on left sideplate features a mule deer buck. Brass forearm cap has complimentary engraving. S# on lower tang appears to be recut or added. Added stamped "J.ULRICH" signature is located behind the trigger. Walnut forearm and straight grip stock with steel shotgun buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Museum records check stating: "Type: Rifle/ Barrel Type: Octagon/ Barrel Length: 38 inches/ Shotgun butt/ Engraved $2.50/ Gilt receiver, etc./ Barrel and Magazine nickel/ Received in warehouse on June 20, 1882/ Shipped from warehouse on June 21, 1882, Order number 32840". CONDITION: CONDITION: Brightly polished receiver exhibits very good fresh engraving. Bbl. and mag. tube are brightly polished. Buttplate has a brown appearance with spots of pitting. Wood has worn finish showing scratches, dents, and marks. Left of forearm has a hairline crack extending from the forend cap. Functioning action. Bright near excellent bore. (01-26779/DS).
